Thrifty Thursday: 4 New-ish Elf Products

At least I think they're pretty new. They're new to me at least! I have 2 primers, 2 of the bite sized eye palettes. Actually I have the New Classics Palette too... but I might do another post on that because I need to use it again a few more times.

Anyway let's start with the Putty eye primer. I think that this would work for most people but my eyes are tricky so it doesn't work all that well for me. Usually the Nars Smudgeproof is the only one that works for me if I'm at work and I want an eye primer to last all day. This one isn't too bad. It feels like it dries down on my eyes immediately and I think that's good thing. It feels like it won't age my eyes weirdly and As long as the eyeshadow sticks to the primer as well as the primer sticks to the eye it should be fine... but my eyes are tricky and it doesn't always stay on my eyes all day. So while I feel like for the price especially this is a great product... it just doesn't work super well for me all day at work... and if you have kind of oily eyelids or you find yourself touching them through the day- I'd say to go with something else. This might still work- it's probably just because of allergies or something... but it just doesn't work the greatest for me so I don't know if it's something I'd repurchase.

If I notice my eyes are less tricky one day I would TOTALLY switch to this! It's like $5 or less I think. Might even give the cream one a try even though that doesn't make sense... but it's good.

Next is the Illuminating Putty Primer... and this is fine. I've heard great things about the Poreless Putty Primer... I just like my Revlon Primer Oil so much better. The Revlon one I like is the Photoready Rose Glow Hydrating and Illuminating Primer. I just prefer this format for a primer. I like knowing that I have primer on and the putty format just makes me feel like I'm using too much of it because I can't really see where it's going. It works fine at priming my face and making my makeup last longer... this is just a personal preference thing. Has anyone used this after makeup? I remember products like this for use after makeup and I should maybe try using it for that.

Okay now for the best part- the Bite Sized Eye Palettes. I have 2 of these- Truffles- which is like a neutral smokey palette and Berry Bad- which is a Rose Gold. I feel like based on the $3 price tag alone I can't NOT recommend these. I figured as long as color shows up on my eyes, they're a winner... and they are really nicely pigmented and the matte shades are nice and blendable. The only thing is I would recommend doing your eye makeup before your face makeup with these because there is a TON of glitter fallout from the glittery shades- particularly in the Berry Bad palette. Truffles is a little bit less glittery and easier to work with... and as much as I love the colors in the Berry Bad- the Truffles is just easier to work with.

Anyway I would recommend all of these products even if they aren't really for me. There's no denying that they're good for an INSANELY GOOD price... they just aren't all my cups of tea. They might grow on me but so far I'm a little like "meh" on them right now.

Bye!
