Top 15 Underrated Makeup Products
So I think I've done this before... but I have so many great new products that no one ever really talks about anymore... and I figured I'd mention them here.
1) Benefit That Gal Primer- I hear a lot about the Becca Backlight primer... which I haven't tried yet... but this is a very similar concept and its more affordable. I like that it kind of smoothes my face and gives a really easy application. This is my favorite primer, the only thing it didn't work with that well for me was the It Cosmetics CC+ Illumination Cream... but this works well with most everything and I really like it and think its very underrated.
2) Revlon Photoready Eye Art Duos- When these first came out everyone was raving about them and I hadn't heard anything about them a while after that... but when I was going out with my friend she was wearing the most gorgeous eye look with one of these and I had to grab one right after... and then they were on clearance at Target, so I grabbed another one too. These last forever and they're really easy to use. I've heard some shades are kind of hit and miss... but Topaz Twinkle and Burnished Bling are amazing. They have a lot of really pretty ones and Revlon is expensive... but if you can find a coupon or something, go for it. I don't think these are being discontinued even though they were on clearance... I hope they aren't at least because these are awesome.
3) Revlon Skinlights Illuminator- This I also found on clearance... so I hope its not discontinued... but this is a really great drugstore highlight. Its not like a huge glow like the Mary Loumanizer... but its a really pretty. Good for natural everyday use. The packaging on this is really easy for beginners also. Compared to something like the ELF whipped shimmer facial thingamajigs, this is way easier to use. Its a squeeze tube, but theres kind of a funnel thing that makes it a little easier. Its also kind of hard to get out... which is a good thing and a bad thing I guess. It isn't like its hard to get out, but its hard to get too much out. Also this comes with a ton of product for a highlighter. So its a pretty good deal.
4) Milani Bella Eyes- Another really great product from the drugstore. I like these a lot better than the new milani palettes that they just put out. I know a lot of people don't like these... I totally don't get why. These are nice and pigmented... and they aren't anything like the L'oreal Infallibles... but they are really really nice. Again, people talked about these when they first came out... but I never hear about them now and I think they're worth checking out. I think I have 5 of them or so... really nice.
5) Too Faced Rock and Roll Palette- This palette has been on sale on the Too Faced site recently and its been spotted at Nordstrom Rack and I'm sure it'll be on haute look... but this has been one of my favorite palettes recently. I don't have many smokey eyeshadow palettes, but this is one that's gotten me into smokey looks. Its so pretty and user-friendly because Too Faced sort of gives guides with each of their palettes. The gold in this palette is so pretty. I've done a few looks that I've really liked with this palette and I just think, if you can find it it is worth picking up.
6) Ulta Amped Lashes mascara- This is my favorite mascara from the drugstore and I don't know why no one else mentions Ulta Brand. They are cruelty free... which is important for me when it comes to mascara because I have very sensitive eyes and that seems to be what works best. This really helps lengthen and volumize the lashes... which is everything you could really want in a mascara right? Its just really nice and definitely underrated.
7) Bareminerals Lash Domination Mascara- This is my favorite mascara of all time. Its so nice! My lashes are long and this just kind of gives them a false lash look. If you want to see what I think of all the claims and such, check that out here and definitely check this out. This mascara isn't incredibly expensive either. Considering the raised prices of several drugstore mascaras... $19 isn't too bad.
8) Bareminerals Mineral Veil Powder- I think this might be one of the more well known products on here... but I feel like its worth mentioning. I like loose powders for some reason... I have dry skin but they just sort of work better for me. This has great packaging and just gives a nice finish to the skin.
9) Ulta Color Coat Cream Eyeshadow- These are nice... they dry out a little fast, but I still like these enough that I've repurchased them. I have only tried the Rose Gold color, but these are nice. If you need a cruelty free alternative to the Maybelline Color Tattoos, these are a great one.
10) Nyx Slide on Glide on Eyeliners and Lip Liners- These are one that I think is more talked about. Rumor has it these are the same as the Urban Decay 24/7 liners... so don't waste your money on the UD... go with the Nyx. I wonder if their glitter liners are the same too... thats interesting... I kind of want to try some of the Nyx Glitters.
I think the Lip Liners are especially impressive and definitely underrated. If you want to read a full review on these with some swatches here is a link to EmilyNoel83's blog on them. She discovered them recently and loves them as much as I do I think. Lol. I discovered these by accident and they're really nice.
11) Lorac Pro Metal Palette-This is such an awesome little palette! I love it! I got it kind of on a whim, I didn't need it... but it was on sale on Ulta's site for cyber monday and I was ordering gifts for my friends... so I grabbed one of these for myself and its really nice. Its even prettier looking at it in person than it is at the store. I really like it.
12) Too Faced Boudoir Eyes- Such a pretty palette! This I rediscovered recently when I've been shopping my stash and its so nice. This was my first Too Faced palette! When I got it, a lot of people were talking about it... but I wanted it before I heard anyone talking about it. Its just really nice and an easy palette to use for simple, wearable smokey looks.
13) Ulta Rain Coat Mascara Topcoat- Another Ulta favorite and a mascara favorite. This makes any mascara waterproof... I use this every day and its amazing. Can't get enough of this.
14) Essence Lip Liners- These have been more hyped recently... but I got one of these on a whim because I needed a couple more dollars to get free shipping at Ulta, and now I look forward to these just as much as the item I'm shopping for. Lol. Essence is a really good brand and I think they are definitely worth checking out.
15) Lorac Unzipped Cheeks palette- I think the Lorac Unzipped palettes deserve a little more love than they get... but the Unzipped Cheeks palette is my favorite blush palette and just overall my favorite blushes. The formula is really great and there's a nice color selection in here. I think it could work with all skintones too. These are so nice and I just really love them. So happy I got that set with this and the two Unzipped palettes with my Ulta Points... it was a great deal!
So that is everything! I hope you found this helpful! Let me know if you've tried any of these products and if you want me to do more... I feel like I could mention foundations and different primers too... idk. Lol. But this is everything I've been using lately that I'm like "Why does no one talk about this?????" So these are great!
Also... just realized its weird that you can buy all these things at Ulta. This is not sponsored by Ulta... but they are also kind of an underrated store. Everyone I know likes Sephora more than Ulta... but Ulta's point system is wayyy better and they have drugstore and high end... which I really like. So... I would classify them as underrated also. Lol.
