Testing Senegence Products: The Good, The Bad and The Truth

A lot of people kind of question the legitimacy of Senegence products... and I get it. Their sales people can be a little pushy and they do make some bold claims... but I've always been pretty interested in it... and I'm in a sales group for it with a very friendly and helpful sales rep... so I bought a couple of things... and I'm going to give you my honest thoughts... because there are some pros and cons with each of them.

Shadow Sense in Bandana

So this is a liquid eyeshadow that I've been using as a base... but you could probably use it on its own too. This is a dark reddish color... so it might look a little bit harsh on it's own... but blended with a crease it might be really nice.

Pros
It does make a good shadow base- eyeshadow sticks to it really well.

It's pretty easy to blend out too because it doesn't quite dry down completely at once... which I kind of like.

The color is really nice and vibrant. Very pigmented.

I also just really liked this color. It's rusty and really pretty... I just like it... and they seem to have a nice color selection of these ShadowSense products.

Cons

The Applicator makes it a little messy. It's small... so for me to cover my eyes- I kind of need to go over a couple of times- which makes this a little bit messy at the top. This type of applicator in a primer does tend to make things a little difficult.

It is longwearing- but it's not something I think you could wear to the gym or if you do a lot of physical labor in your work... you're probably going to see some wear on this product... that's obviously very true of any eye primer or shadow in general and this probably does hold up better than most... but still. It's not the greatest thing ever made.

Lipsense in Praline Rose

Pros

They have a really great color selection in their line.

This color is a perfect pinky neutral.

If you love glossy lips with some color- I think this is the way to go for sure. I really like how the gloss looks.

The gloss also wears really well throughout the day... which is impressive.

Cons

Putting the lipstick on isn't the most pleasant feeling/ taste ever. It tastes like rubbing alcohol, there's a sting to it. It doesn't last that long at all... some people might be allergic or bothered by it. It doesn't hurt for that long- so I feel like you'd have to have a kind of low pain tolerence if you were really super bothered by it... but on the other hand- If you're paying lots and lots of money for a lipstick (these are not cheap!) It shouldn't bother you at all.

I bought the starter pack... I would say you definitely need the color and the gloss... I'm not sold on the lipstick remover though. It feels good and it tastes good and everything... but Elf has a lipstick remover that works just as well... and most days this product wears off on me before I even need to remove it.

Which is another slight con... I feel like these advertise as "you'll never have to reapply" and you probably will. I talk a lot at my job and I noticed a little bit of wear from that.

I also kind of liked ordering it. I know some of these sales people can be pushy... but mine was really nice and I just liked getting it in the mail. It took a little long I guess... she had to order it and then send it to me I guess... but it was easy and quick which I like.

So yeah! I thought this would be helpful. Overall I think there are a lot of cons to these products... but they work well for me and I would order them again.

Bye!
-Shannon
