How To Be Unique With A Uniform
I didn't post yesterday... I was at Hershey, I can do something about that soon, but today I thought I would do a super helpful back to school post that not a lot of people really know about. I had a really strict uniform dress code all through middle school and high school and it was hard for me. I still wanted to look unique and different from everyone else, but it was always super hard.
In Middle School, there was basically no wiggle room for me to wear anything different. We had a really strict dress code:No Jewelry, No make up, no nail polish even... It wasn't great. I kind of cheated though and wore crosses for jewelry. I went to Cathilic school, it's not like they can really yell at you for wearing a cross right? Lol this is kind of something I almost feel bad about saying... I has never worn crosses before going to Catholic school, I don't know. I'm not even Catholic or very religious, but there will be hardly any teachers that will yell at you for that at all. I did have some really nasty computer teachers that would yell at us for the simplest things like that, but chances are they won't notice and... Or you could keep a pouch to keep jewelry in and take it off before class with any strict teacher. Lol that is one way to do it.
I also used to always have purses to class and I would keep my pens and pencils and everything in them. Again the computer teachers thought that this was silly, but it's super practical. If you're a girl and you have your period, you need to bring pads anyway, if you never wear a purse and then suddenly start wearing one once a month, people will know! And that's not fun when you're a teenager, so I did it that way. I didn't have anything fancy and I wouldn't recommend keeping anything super valuable or fancy in there, but it helps. Pens, pencils, a few dollars, if you have a cell phone, feminine stuff, hand sanitizer, gum if you're a real badass... It's all up to you lol.
In the winter time, things were a lot different because you could wear different jackets to school to be a little bit unique. All my friends and I had bright colored jackets and it looked kind of cool all together. I don't know if they still really do this, but Target used to have really nice, affordable bright colored peacoats that would be perfect for around January, Febuary and March, when it was still cold but wasn't as cold. I think I had a red one, a green one and a pink one and I really liked all of them, This is super simple and it will really make a difference in setting you apart from everyone else.
In high school I was more into music and I wanted everyone to know what bands I liked, so whenever I went to a concert, I would be sure to pick up a hoodie so I could wear it to school. Most teachers let you wear them in class even though we weren't really supposed to. When it got cold, they kind of understood, but this is something I really liked. I also got tote bags in concerts and I would carry them also and use them in class. Those are great because they're probably the cheapest thing you can get at a concert and they're good for carrying books. I used to carry the books I had before lunch in a backpack and the books I had after lunch in a tote bag. That made it super easy to just grab the tote bag and go to lunch instead of figuring out which books I needed and bringing them to class. It didn't save all that much time, but it really helped me back then and I wondered why no one else did that! Lol
In high school I wore a lot more jewelry and nail polish and some make up because I could, but nothing too drastic. One thing I think that would be cool now is to do some nail art or use the nail strips. That would be really nice and different and would definitely set you apart from everything else. I'll post a super easy nail art design on here before school starts too because that's cool.
Really, fashion can really say something about who you are and it really helps to express yourself in torh younger years and that can be hard with a strict dress code. These are just a few of my tips and cheats that I used that I thought might help.
BYEEEE!
