Mini Review: New Revlon Gel Envy Polish

Recently I got the Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy nail polish in the shade Up The Ante and I have some thoughts about it that might be kind of helpful.

I had seen EmilyNoel83 on YouTube or Beauty Broadcast on her blog use this and she does daily videos and she had been wearing it for quite a while without it chipping, so I thought I needed to pick it up because that's awesome. What I didn't do that she did, however, probably made a huge difference in my manicure compared to hers. I didn't buy the topcoat to go with it because I thought it would be just a plain gel-like polish and I already have a topcoat I like (Seche Vite) that I could use with it if needed. Last year Sinful Colors had a nice gel nail polish that didn't need a topcoat, and I thought it would be like that.

I think it's kind of gimmicky to do that. Like if you buy the polish, in order to make it last longer you need to buy the topcoat too! And I was in a bad mood when I bought it and I thought "I don't even know if I'll like this polish, why get the topcoat also." Which is true. It's a drugstore brand nail polish, so it's cheaper than Essie and OPI... But at the same time it's not cheap. It would still be more than $12 for the base and top coat and I felt stupid buying the top coat because I already have one that I like! Does that make sense? Idk.

I really did like the color of the polish. This is the type of color I usually go for when I'm getting my nails done because it's just a really lovely purple that isn't too purple. The best way I can think of describing it is that it reminds me of Daphne in the Scooby Doo movies. The Sarah Michelle Gellar character, not the cartoon. It's super pretty.

The formula was a little bit meh. It didn't go on completely opaque and I at least felt the need to layer it in order to get a perfect looking polish. It is starting to chip on my right hand today, which I guess makes sense since I had to put that on with my left hand and I am right handed so I use that more I guess. Left hand looks pretty okay with the Seche Vite topcoat.

Overall I do like this polish because it's such a Shannon color, but I don't think I'm going to buy any more colors. I might buy the topcoat and see how long the manicure lasts and then buy another color if they have any more pretty ones, but I didn't love the other colors anyway,so it might just be that.

If you do check it out I would say maybe buy it at Ulta. Those are usually the same price as Target and they do a lot of buy one get one half, that way you can get the polish and the topcoat for a slightly cheaper price.

Let me know what you guys think!

Byeeee!
