Thrifty Thursday: Rediscovered Product Review- Essence Eye and Face Palette
So I have a post I've written for a Thrifty Thursday... but I think I'll post that next week... this week I thought I'd do a review on the Essence Eye and Face Palette because I just rediscovered this while cleaning out my makeup stash and I decided to use it today because... why not.
ANYWAY my review of this palette... don't buy this palette. It's not great for the eye looks. When I first tried it I thought it was okay... but I used it today and I'm not really loving the look. If you like a light eye look- sure this is fine... if you just want the blush and highlight- this is fine... but I would say skip this... it's not great and get a different Essence palette instead.
Actually I'm not even sure if they still sell this- it isn't on Ulta's Website- but I'm sure I've seen this in stores when stores were still open... and I'd say just splurge like $4 more and get the Spice Up Your Life palette or something.
So this has a really nice blush and highlight- I like those and 4 eyeshadows... now the weird thing is these ALL have the same formula and it feels weird. They're all very soft but they all have some shimmer... and it's a little weird. I had it on for like a few minutes and the eyeshadow just DID NOT stay on my eyes. And I used a primer with it too- I was going to do an all drugstore makeup look so I used the Milani Eye Primer and the shade I used on the lid didn't show up at all and I layered it but it didn't last on my eyes at all. I probably should have taken a picture before I wiped it off but I went into the bathroom and I just could not see the eye color on the lid. Not only that but there's sooo much fallout from the darker shades so if you use those it gets right on top of your highlighter and it just looks really bad.
I don't think this is age that has made this palette bad because I don't even know if I've had it that long... I think I've used it before and at the time I liked it I think because I love the format of this palette wit the blush and highlighter and then the four eyeshadows... that's super easy to use and it's really small if you're traveling... but it just doesn't really work at all. I'll show some pictures of the look.
And I love Essence and I feel like they do have some good eyeshadows... so this is just disappointing. I think it was inexpensive... but it wasn't that inexpensive so... idk.
I might keep it for the cheek products cause I feel like i can get some more use out of those... but I don't see myself really picking this up for an eye look. And I'm not sure I can recommend this... I was thinking maybe the colors just didn't stick to my eyelids because mine are a little tricky for shadows to stick to... but with all the glitter fallout I just don't think it's really worth it for the shadows. The dark shadows just kind of got all over my face with fallout... and you'd think it'd be easy to remove because it didn't stick to my eyes... but no. It just didn't work lol.
I hope you guys like this review... I think I might end up doing more of these little reviews of things that are in my stash... so expect some of that... and yeah. This isn't my favorite!
