Nyx Eyeshadow Reviews
Hey guys! I just bought a Nyx eyeshadow trio and I realized "Heyyyyy I have a lot of Nyx palettes... I should do a review of them!" And that's what I plan on doing here now.
I have 4 to share and one thing I really like about all of these is that they are actual palettes from the drugstore and there aren't many of those. I think Maybeline is definitely going to start the trend with that, but I still like these Nyx palettes and I think they're great to travel with and they are inexpensive and they come with a lot of different shadows that you can really come up with a lot of different looks with.
My first and newest to the collection is the Love in Rio Trio (I get that now) in the color En Fuego. The name makes me laugh a little because 1) it's a bunch of cooler toned shades and En Fuego means "on fire"... I guess because it's smokey it's "on fire". 2) En Fuego is Spanish and I think the main language of Rio is Portuguese. Anyway this is a really easy way to get a smokey look. It comes with a light purple, a dark purple, and an even darker indigo type color. I use the lightest all over my lid, and the two darker colors in the crease. You could even put the indigo color in the outer V and under the lower lashline for a dark pop of color. It's really pretty. It is shimmery and there is some shimmery fall out, but if you do your face make up after your eye make up... The clean up should be a little bit easier. I was slightly annoyed because sadly that isn't what I did... But whatever, it's still a nice little trio.
Next I have one of the Love In Paris palettes. I have the color Mon Cherie which makes me think of Stevie Wonder and Gomez Addams. This is a fun little palette because it comes with neutral shades, there's a really pretty gold and some pinky colors and some nice pops of color as well. There is a green in here that is really nice... But I have no idea how to use it with these shades. I'm sure I'll figure it out and use it somehow. These feel really nice and I've gotten similar looks that I have used in my Stila in the light palette. This has really nice packaging also. It's easy to travel with, it's not hard to open up, but it won't just pop right open or anything. It's similar to the packaging of the love in rio palette too. They have a cute little bow on the side. It's nice and sturdy and compact. Plus it comes with 9 eyeshadows. That's only a few less than most high end palettes and it's under $10 and the quality is not bad. This is probably my favorite of all the palettes, so if you're going to pick one up I recommend this one.
I also recently picked up the Wicked Dreams Palette, which is also good. It has 24 shadows and comes in another sturdy travel-friendly package with a good mirror on it. There are lots of different shadows that you could get a ton of different looks with... But they aren't the best quality. They're a little chalky, not super pigmented... But you can still work with these and get an amazing look. I reached for this quite a bit when I first got it and I still really like it a lot. One nice thing about it is that it has some nice highlight shades. There's a good matte white in this palette and I like using any palette just for white mattes alone.
And last is my least used palette of all of these: the Smokey palette. I like this, these are nice shades... They aren't the most pigmented but they are good. I should probably make a point to use this more, but I think smokey looks are better for "going out" and I tend to use my higher end palettes for going out. The packaging for this isn't quite as nice as the others, but it's still good and won't come apart or anything. Also has a nice matte white highlight shade, which is good for a smokey palette. It came with a nice big spongetip applicator, which I actually really like. I use it sometimes for travel or for less pigmented shadows like the NYC little palettes.
So that is it. I hope you found this helpful. I forgot I had a lot of these because I just haven't been reaching for them as much. I may rearrange my make up to make it more visible though... We shall see!
