Style Saturday: Alex and Ani Bracelet collection
So I wanted to start a new series on this blog called Style Saturdays and I thought I would kick it off with my go-to accessory: My Alex and Ani bracelet collection. These are popular bracelets and for a great reason, they go with everything, they have several bracelets that go to charity and they are all made from recycled material. Most of the bracelets I got are gifts and really these are the perfect gift. They also give discounts for students and military discounts in store, so that's a plus too. I have a lot, and I'm not trying to brag or anything, but I think the bracelets everyone has means something different and I like knowing what bracelets other people have, so I'm sharing my own collection!
1) Pawprint bracelet- this is the first bracelet I pulled out and I really love this one. My aunt got it for me for Christmas and the I think a portion of the proceeds go to the ASPCA or some animal charity... I'm not quite sure, but this is a really nice gift because it's not only giving a gift to whoever you are giving it to but it also helps out an animal that needs a home. My aunt knows I love my puppies and I love animals in general. I thought this was really thoughtful and I love it!
2) Jets football bracelet- this is kind of funny because I don't know football or sports very well. (I know Reggie Jackson did something amazing with home runs in one game and that he is the only person that has done that. That is my only sports trivia fact lol.) My dad is a really big Jets fan, which makes me a Jets fan and when these came out my sister was like " we should get jets Alex and Ani bracelets." And we did. They're super cute, it's fun to see what teams people root for too lol.
3) Four Leaf Clover Bracelet- I don't really like to say I like one bracelet over the other... But this is my favorite. This is the first bracelet that I got and my sister gave it to me after our dog Lucky passed away. We got Lucky a little charm with a four leaf clover that said "Lucky" or "Lucky Dog" on it and it would make a little jingle when he walked around. This really reminds me of him because the bracelets all jingle together and when I look at it I can see his face and hear his bark and his howl. He was such a good dog and this bracelet makes me feel like he is always with me.
4) Crown Bracelet- this one is my other favorite and it goes with the bracelet I mentioned above. After Lucky passed away, we knew that we needed another dog in our household. We are dog people and we need a family dog, so my dad talked to a breeder and her dog was having puppies in July, which just happened to be the same time that Kate Middleton was expecting her royal baby. So while the whole world was waiting for the Royal Baby to be born... We were waiting for a Prince of our own. Our puppy was born the day after the royal baby. And while everyone was trying to guess the baby's name, which was not being released at the time, we were trying to think of a name for a puppy. One of the wildcard guesses for the name of the printer was Spencer after Diana Spencer... We thought it would be a good way to honor her by naming our royal puppy Spencer... So that is why his symbol is the crown. I like putting this near the four leaf clover bracelet so that my puppies can play together. I also love this one because while I was away at school I didn't always get to see Spencer as much and this always let me be with him too. This was a birthday gift from my sister.
5) The Boston Bracelet Set- Alex and Ani came out with a bangle set for the one year anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombings. One is just a dark blue beaded chain and the other is a gold charm bangle with the Boston skyline on it. This was another charity bracelet and the proceeds went to help for recovery. My sister went to school in Boston years ago and my family and I would take trips down there to see it. We really love the city and it means a lot to us, so this is one way to support it.
6) Penguins Bracelet- this was a birthday gift from a friend and it is adorable! I love animals and penguins are probably one of my favorites. They are sooo soo cute and I love looking down at my wrist and seeing a cute little penguin! He makes me happy! I especially love wearing this guy in the winter time and I usually wear him lower on my wrist so everyone can see.
7) Fleur de Lis- this was another birthday gift from a different friend. I really like this symbol and it's something I wear a lot and my friend knew that I wanted it and she got it for me! The funny thing is I was actually going to get her the same one for her birthday... Still might don't tell her lol. Her birthday was a long time ago though... Lol. I just thought this was really thoughtful and I was soo soo excited with it! It also reminds me of Pirates of the Carribean because it's a New Orleans symbol I believe and pirates is in the New Orleans part of Disney world... Is that random? That's pretty random, but I like it! Lol Pirates of the Carribean is another symbol of my bracelets.
8) butterfly- I think this is the only one that wasn't a gift of some sort... I picked this one out because one of the things it represented was strength and at this time in my life I felt like I could use a little extra strength. I was finishing up school, I was kind of feeling out of touch with a lot of people and things had changed a lot for me. And I am a much stronger person now than when I bought the bracelet... So that's something to think about.
9) Starfish- this is another cute one that I really wanted and got for a birthday gift. This was with the penguin. I live in the jersey shore and I love the beachy atmosphere of it all...So I love all things beachy and cutesy like the Starfish.
10) Mermaid- this also reminds me of the beach and pirates of the Carribean so I wear this near the stardpfish and fler de Lis. My sister got me this on the last day of summer last year and I chose this one because I felt like it represented the summer. It was so cute and summery... I just liked her lol. I also think it's kind of funny because I almost didn't buy her because she is a topless mermaid. At first I was like "not sure that I want it" but they're just cute little mermaid charm boobies, it isn't like a full on boob bracelet! Lol I think it's kind of cool now.
11) Cupcale- last but not least the cupcake! I love cupcakes I have a lot of decorative cupcakes and cupcake clothes and jewelry around my room. I basically am a human cupcake so of corse I needed this bracelet! This was another gift from my sister along with the crown charm and I love it! I feel like it represents me in a nutshell plus it reminds me of my birthday and I love my birthday!
So that is it! All of my bracelets are also the silver bracelets because I wear more silver. The Boston one only came in gold because I guess the boston colors are blue and gold, so yeah. If you're looking for a gift for someone, I highly recommend these. I think they're cute and special. I don't think these are just a trend because they're so easy to wear and they go with anything.
That is all for this style Saturday! I might make this a thing... Not sure!
