Drugstore Picks: Brushes
Heyyy guys! This is kind of like my brush collection, but I thought I'd let you guys know my favorite drugstore and affordable brushes. Fun Fact: I have never purchased a brush from a high end brand or from an online store like Coastal Scents or Morphe or anything. While I'm sure Coastal Scents and Morphe have great brushes, I'm not the biggest online shopper... I like being able to see and touch it... so yeah I thought I'd just share this.
One brand I really like for eye brushes is actually Elf. I'm pretty simple with my eye make up, so I don't need all that many brushes... sometimes I just like using my hands, but my favorites are actually from Elf. I love their professional eyeshadow brush and their blending brush... I think I want to pick some more up of that also. I like Elf brushes for face also... but a lot of mine don't hold up when I wash them... so I'd definitely recommend them for eyes.
This is going to sound kind of stupid, but my other eye favorite is a small brush that came for free in an Ulta gift with purchase. Basically it reminds me of the small brushes they put in wet n wild palettes... and it really packs on color in the crease without being too messy. Its really good. I use this all the time for the crease and in fact, if Ulta does any more free bags of make up with purchase... I'd be interested because I like that brush so much. Lol. I liked most of the things that came in that bag... but that brush is nice. I should try Ulta's brushes... maybe soon. I get overwhelmed when I'm in Ulta cause I don't go that often and there are none super close to me... so yeah. I'll remember that lol.
I also have some Real Techniques eye brushes... which I like... but they aren't my favorite. They don't have too many eye brushes, they have an eye set, which is what I have and its really nice... but I reach for the Elf ones more, so that isn't my #1 recommendation for eyes. I will recommend them highly for their face brushes though because they are wonderful. Its funny because up until recently my brushes were pretty much all from elf and my eye brushes were from Real Techniques and now I'm saying the opposite lol. After the Elf Face Brushes kind of lost shape after washes I started to slowly "invest" in Real Techiques. I got their Blush Brush and I was like "ahhh what was I doing before I used this... this is the best thing ever!" And then I got their Contouring Set which has an Angled Contour Brush, a Setting Brush (both of these are permanent) and a fan brush that is exclusive to the set. I really like everything in this set, but I'm mostly impressed with the 2 permanent brushes... I feel like the Fan Brush is really good, but I really don't see much of a difference among fan brushes... there are probably cheap fan brushes that work just as well as this one or even more expensive ones... they get the highlight job done... and I'm a fan. Lol I'm a fan of the fan brush lol. I think this was like $20 but I had a bed bath and beyond $5 off coupon so it was $15 which is probably about the price of the setting and contour brush alone... so I was happy.
Ohhh and I actually like the Real Techniques sponge more than the Beauty Blender... I think its easier to use and really well made... so yeah.
Up and Up's face brushes are really great too. I want to try their eye brushes because I haven't tried them yet... but I imagine those are really good too. This is just target's brand. I have a blush brush and a complexion brush, which is just like a buffer brush I use it for foundation, but it'd be good for cream products too. This is good, its a newer one for me so... yeah. But its pretty good. I like it. The Blush Brush works really well with harder blushes like the Tarte Amazonian Clay blushes. I like using this blush brush with them instead of the real techniques... idk why lol. But I like that!
And I haven't tried much from Eco Tools, but I did try their mattifying face brush, which I got in an influenster voxbox. This is awesome. I would definitely try more from real techniques based off of this brush. Its fluffy and soft and really good for powder. I think it can be used for foundation also because it would be kind of like a stipple brush. Idk, it might be too fluffy for that, but this would work well for setting powder and powder products so I really like it.
And last but not least, I just want to mention what I use to clean it. I use the Johnson and Johnson Head to Toe Body Wash... this is nothing new, but it does a really good job. It gets everything nice and clean and you can get it at Big Lots for $2... so yeah. I've heard purity is the best... but I love Purity for my face and don't want to use a ton of that for brushes lol. This works really well.
Hope this was helpful!
