Make Up Throwback Thursday: Victoria Secret Train Case+ Sephora Bday presents

This is kind of a funny little Make Up Throwback post. Does anyone remember when Victoria Secret used to do holiday train cases filled with make up? I used to think they were so awesome, this was either from when I was in high school or when I was just starting college and I was just getting into playing with make up. This had like a super good deal and I thought it was a really good value and that it was filled with a lot of things... and my mom must have too cause I know she got this for me...

So here is this big train case... which I'm totally keeping. I really don't know where I'm going to store it, but I'll probably have some use for it... maybe I'll keep my colourpop shadows or singles in there... cause I just have my single shadows in a make up bag now... and its a little small. But yeah this is super cute it says very sexy on it.

And then you open it up... and there is like nothing inside! Lol. From my memory it had a ton of make up in it and now I'm opening it up and I'm like "thats it?" Lol.

So there are 2 spots on the side. One came with 2 cream products that I think were lipglosses and cheek stains. I'm pretty sure I actually used these on my lips... mostly because they smelled good. And they are pretty colors just for like a wash of color. and then on the other side there are 2 spots that are empty... idk what was in here tbh. It looks like a lipstick a lipgloss and a mascara... but there may have been liner here. I must have used the two empty spots since they are empty. I didn't use the mascara because I honestly had no idea what to do with mascara or what it was! Lol. Isn't that insane? The one easiest thing to do and to use I didn't even know how to use until I was a sophomore in high school I think. That's really funny to me.

And then there is a mosaic powder blush and a mosaic eyeshadow. Idk how these looked back in the day... idk if I used them even, I probably used the eyeshadow... I didn't know how to use blush back then. I just think its really funny that this was what a good value set was like a few years ago! I think we got it for like $4 or $7 for some reason... it was probably originally $25 and there is like nothing in it! Lol. There may have been a top tray that had more stuff on it... actually I think there was and I probably took it out cause I keep looking for a bottom layer and there isn't one... so now that I think of it... there was probably more stuff in it than there is now... but this is kinda funny to me still. Idk. I guess compared to like the Tarte holiday sets and even some of Sephora's value sets... that are probably similarly priced, this isn't really anything.

We also found a lot of old sephora samples and some old make up. There was one bag FILLED with a TON of samples from Sephora that my sister must have gotten... I think she either got it in New York when she got her make up done there or maybe she used to be a VIB and thats what they gave her... idk. It was a lot of stuff. There was something from CoverFx, there was a Sephora eyeshadow sample packet that looked nice. There were samples of a Clean perfume that was in a green tube and it smelled really nice... but I don't think they make it anymore. There was a sample of Pink Sugar which smells awesome. It was nice. Just funny that everyone is talking about the new CoverFx drops and we have vintage samples of something from the brand that we never used. Lol.

There was also a birthday present from Sephora that was completely unopened and I actually remember getting this and its wayyyy better than the samples they give out now. They give better brands now, but in this little pack there was a good sized white eyeshadow that I used a lot and it was really pretty. That was probably one of the first eyeshadows I ever really used. And there was an eyeliner that was a weird color I remember and I could not get it to show up on myself... plus at the time, eyeliner really bothered my eyes so I never used it. And there was a mini sized mascara... that I also probably didn't use because I didn't really know how to use mascara at all. Lol. So I guess the quality of the eyeliner wasn't that good but I feel like thats a nice value rather than the really tiny samples they give now.

I also remember they gave Philosophy's Birthday Cake shower gel one year... and that was really nice! It was a good size sample, I think it lasted me over a month when I had it and it was just kind of cool. Its not that I'm mad at the gifts and perks they give now... but like... really? Lol. A tiny sample of a mascara and a lipstick that won't last very long vs. A good size body wash? I'll take the body wash! Although I'm really pumped to try the Nars lipsticks they give out this year cause its Nars lol.

And the point perks aren't all that good either anymore! I was looking at the website and I saw that they had older point perks that were actually pretty cool and you got a decent amount of stuff... and now they just have tiny lipsticks and things like that that... idk. It just doesn't seem the most useful compared to their old stuff... Now I've seen that they have some awesome 1,000, 1,500 2,000 and 5,000 point rewards like the Urban Decay Naked Vault and a Kat Von D thing... that is really really cool... but you have to spend a ton of money just to get that... and its just a little frustrating that they don't give a little something better for everyone. Not a huge gripe... but if you look at some of their old 100 point perks compared to what they do now... I totally think they're downsizing it which makes me want to spend more money at Ulta cause you can actually get money back for their reward points and that is really cool.

So there is my little throwback for the day... lol I thought it was cool to see all this old stuff and look at it compared to stuff from today.

Byeee!
