First Impression Friday: New Products! (Too Faced Born This Way, Tarte Blush Palette, Nyx Slide on Glide on Lip Liner)
So I'll probably have full reviews on these also... but right now I'm going to do some first impressions on products I got recently during the VIB Sale and stuff. So I'll be putting the Born This Way Foundation, Lip Insurance Primer and the Tarte Blush Palette to the test right now and see how this goes!
Alrighty I'll just go through my whole look today cause why not. Lol. I'm starting out with eyes cause I'm going to use a colourpop shadow today and it might work better if I use that first.
I'm just going to go over everything quickly thats not in the first impression.
Also... my pictures of this are horrible! I'm sorry about that!
Eyes:
Primer: Too Faced Candellight Shadow Insurance
Shadows: All over the lid I used Colourpops I Heart This Which I love. Especially with this primer it looks good. Heads Up: This and the color Fringe are basically the same. Then I took the Elf Mad for Matte Palette and I used the 4th color to transition in the crease and then layered the third color over that to deepen it and I used that a little on the outer corner. Haven't used this palette in a while, but I like Matte shadows a lot... so this is a good affordable one!
Mascara: L'oreal Voluminous Butterfly Intenza Mascara.
Now for the face... which is where most of the first impressions lie. I primed with the Too Faced Hangover Rx primer which I love. And then I went in with the Born This Way Foundation. I used one full pump and then dotted that pump around my face and then I used an angled foundation brush to spread it around. It applied nicely, it didn't really look dry or cakey in too many spots. Its pretty full coverage, but you can still see some pores and things. So there is that.
I used concealer. Benefit Erase Paste and Maybelline. I put a little under my browbone also.
Then I put on the blush in the color Smashing from the Tarte Blush Palette. This is a pretty color, it applied really really naturally... but it does look quite pigmented on my face right now. I really like it with this look that I did. Its pink but its like theres some purple undertones in it. Really like the way it looks. I have a full review and an overview of the packaging that I'm working on now too... but love this blush so far.
I put on the Rose Gold Highlighter from Becca, which is really pretty. I have a mini that came in a kit.
And I couldn't actually find the lip insurance lip primer in my room, so I went with the Nyx Slide on Glide on Lip Pencil in the color Sugar Glass and then put the L'oreal Le Matte in She's so Matte on my lips. This Nyx Lip Pencil is new and I love it. Not my typical type of color, I grabbed it by accident, but I love it. When I first tried it on I thought it looked good all on its own. Maybe my lips are just dry today, but it looked pretty dry on them today when I used it alone... so that was a bummer. But this is new for me also so I'll be testing that out! And I like the way these colors look together and I like the way it looks with the eye look and the blush. So I'm digging it right now.
Check In #1: Half a Bagel with Cream Cheese and A Coffee Later
So this hasn't been very long... obviously my foundation and blush are still on... unless they were the worst foundation and blush ever they would still be on by now. It's been like 20 minutes... maybe a little more and I haven't done anything other than blog and eat. The impressive thing, however is that my Lipstick is still in tact! Even after the bagel!!! That is just awesome. I was kind of careful eating my bagel and coffee... but even still most lipsticks would have worn off by now! This stayed on after biting into a bagel, licking cream cheese off my lips and drinking Coffee... so I'm impressed by this. Firm believer in this lip combo... better than any high end brand I've tried even... and this combo would be like 14-16 dollars at the drugstore probably (for the both of them, not including coupons!) So that is kind of cool. I'm a fan of that.
Check In #2: 4:30ish
Okay I've had this on for a little while now and it still looks pretty good. My blush is still on and my highlight is still going strong... so that's really good! The picture I actually posted on my look was taken quite a while after I initially applied the foundation (and the rest of the makeup), so it still looked pretty fresh there. The foundation is wearing off a little bit around my chin. I didn't powder. It doesn't look majorly dry or anything, but it doesn't look that much different than the Maybelline Superstay Better Skin on me. This is lasting a lot longer and it does probably look wayyy better... but the same problem areas that I have with that foundation are problematic with this one also. Maybe I need to be better with the moisturizer and with my skincare routine and thats what makes foundation look really cakey on my chin... and I would say this look a lot better than the Maybelline one that I like... but the difference isn't huge.
My lipstick wore off a little after lunch. Its still a little different than my natural lip color... but its worn down.
And today I've done sort of a lot. I went to kohl's and tried on some things, I was cleaning my room and organizing my desk. According to my fitbit I've taken 2,872 steps since I've put this on (my fitbit was charging before I put this on... so it didn't measure before... which is kind of a good way to do first impressions. Lol. I'll have to pay more attention to that!
So yeah... that's pretty cool. I'm going to get back to cleaning my room and... yeah. I'll check in a little later!
Check in #3 6: 37 pm
Alrighty so this foundation wore really well throughout the day I feel like. It didn't look the same as when I just applied it as it did at the end of the day, but it still looked nice and it looked really natural and skin like... maybe it just isn't on anymore... lol. I think its just that it kind of wore away but it did it nicely. My highlight isn't that strong. I cleaned my closet out and had to move some heavier things... so it wasn't like it was really easy or anything... but yeah. Foundation is still on and it still looks pretty good! I think I'm going to take a shower, check in and then take it off after I finish putting things back in my closet.
Blush is a little more faint now, but it still shows up.
I didn't use powder today, so thats kind of a good thing that it still looks this good with all of that factored in. Now i've had 3,961 steps according to my fitbit... so thats decent amount of movement for this to kind of change. I'm pretty amazed that the blush is still on. The highlight isn't really on that strong, but I think I saw it before... so thats kind of cool.
Final Check In: 7:46pm
I think I'm done checking in for the night. All of my makeup is still on. I haven't done a whole whole lot today... but I've done quite a bit. I ate, I took a bath, I shopped I tried on clothes... and still the foundation is pretty much all on my face. You can still kind of see the blush. You can tell there is blush on my cheeks. I'm not really surprised about my eye shadow because Colourpop lasts forever and the Too Faced Shadow Insurance primers are really good too. You can still see my highlight in the light.
Overall I'm impressed with the wear time of the foundation. The quality of the blush is what I would expect from Tarte. My chin looks a little odd, I don't think it'll pick up on camera... but that always tends to look bad because my chin is bad. Lol. I think it wore off a little on my chin and my chin is dry. I'm still going to do full reviews on these products because I want to try the other blushes on too and I want to try the foundation with a sponge and with the Target Up and Up brush and maybe with different primers too... but first impression is impressive.
So there you have it! All of these products get the thumbs up! And if you're thinking of trying them, it might be a good idea! So far I feel like they'll be good!
Byeee! Hope everyone is having a good and safe Black Friday!

(these pictures were taken at about 2:20. My lipstick was gone at this point, it was before check in #2 and hours after I had originally applied the makeup...but this is how it looked when I first applied it. Aside from the lips.

Can you tell the blush and highlight is still on? It was, pink walls don't make for great phone photos.
