Frugal Friday: Elf Flawless Finish Foundation
So here's a foundation I've been raving about since I got at the end of November I believe. It's just so perfect for my skin. It has such a nice finish, it lasts a long time on me and it covers well... I feel a little biased doing this review because this product is actually perfect for me... but I'll try to be objective and give all the details on it.
So this isn't really full coverage. I use 2 pumps to get it to somewhat medium coverage. It's a little bit more coverage than a BB or CC Cream... but not the most full coverage product that you can use. It has more of a satin finish than a true dewy finish or a matte finish. Slightly more dewy maybe than matte... but really I think with 2 pumps its more of a satin finish.
There are only 6 shades... so the shade range isn't the best. On the website their darkest shade has a warmer undertone... and it's kind of the darkest Medium tone you could find. I thought it looked darker in person... so maybe this isn't the best judgement. I use the lightest shade, porcelain and that looks a little darker on the website... but its like the perfect shade for my skintone. I'm not sure how old this product is... but I'm hoping now that Elf is a publicly traded company... maybe they'll have more skintones? I don't know... lol I don't understand stocks very well... but I know that the company has to try to make the most people happy so that it's a better payout for the shareholders... or something. Lol. #shanconomics.
The packaging is pretty amazing. It's in a frosted glass bottle WITH A PUMP! Super happy it has a pump! It looks very chic and the pump is very good and practical. It is quite small... so it doesn't take up a ton of space in your collection. It's just overall a super nice foundation.
As for wear time... this wears okay on me... it lasts throughout the day without looking oily on me. I have dry skin, and its winter...so keep that in mind. I do think maybe some parts look a little bit worn throughout the day... but overall if you have dry skin I think this would work really well, even if you're working... maybe powder a little bit with this one... but every time I've worn this you can still see my blush and highlight at the end of the day... so it lasts pretty darn well!
There is a little less of it than other foundations. I think you get a little more in something like the Rimmel Lasting Finish... but also keep in mind, this has a pump and the rimmel does not... so I'd kind of rather the money go into the packaging than in the amount of product because I feel like I use a lot of the rimmel foundation because I have to pour it out... so it's six of one, half a dozen of the other... but basically... I like the pump.
Every primer I've used with this works. It works with a brush, a blender sponge and just with your fingers... so its kind of a "No-fail" in my opinion. It looks nice mixed with the Custom Enhancer Drops... it is kind of a no fail.
And other pluses... it is cruelty free and $6! So you really cannot go wrong with those things! It's a good foundation to try if you don't like it too look like you have foundation on.
That is it. Overall... I'm pretty sure this is my all time favorite foundation. I don't know how many more high end foundations I'll try... just because I think this is so perfect... even though I do want to try some things... does it beat this $6 foundation? Probably not.
