Frugal Friday: Wet n Wild 10 Pan Studio Eye Palettes Coming in Latte and Quartz Center
It seems that these palettes are being discontinued... but you should be able to find them somewhere or other anyway... so I'm going to talk about them anyway. These are 10 pan palettes from Wet n Wild, they come with a nice brush... so if you're starting out with makeup this brush will be so so useful for you... and these are just pretty good palettes. I don't really think of them as being the best palettes in the world... but they are some of the best from the drugstore... Idk if these compare to high end shadows the way that something like the Elf Mad for Matte palette does... but it is still a great palette!
Quartz Center
This palette isn't as purpley as it looks... which isn't necessarily a bad thing... but its not as easy to use as the Coming in Latte palette. This one is good for doing a soft, smokey eye look... it doesn't totally build up to a super dramatic eye look... but that's kind of nice. There are no mattes in this palette... but mattes are harder to formulate, especially purples... so for the price, I would rather have better quality shadows than a better variety of finishes. This would be ideal for prom or school dance makeup. If you're young and you want to wear makeup for a special event... this would be a great palette for that. It's 6.99 at Target and it will give a pretty makeup look that would be easy to do and look nice. I really like this palette for that... I don't think I'll be reaching for it a lot personally. I don't really do smokey looks on an everyday basis and this probably isn't what I would prefer to use because the pigmentation isn't the best... but it has a more specific purpose and I would recommend it for that.
And if you're looking at buying it, just know it isn't quite as dramatic as it looks and chances are, you will get a very soft look from it.
Coming in Latte
This is what I used more, so this is what I'll probably talk about a little bit more. This palette is great... but it is still a drugstore palette. Sometimes its a little frustrating to build up... some of the shadows don't work all that well... and you really need to pack these on your eyes... the brush that comes with the palette works sooo soo well for these shadows... I kind of just use drugstore brushes like these for drugstore shadows because I feel like that is what it was developed to work for. It wasn't made for an It Cosmetics brush... the brush comes with it for a reason and thats' because it just works sooo much better with it than other brushes.
The lighter colors in this palette are a little bit more frustrating. I tried to do a look for this blog with one of the lighter colors... and it just wasn't working... so I didn't end up blogging that look at all. I have one coming up on Tuesday I think... and that was hard to work with too... but it looked a little bit better, especially on camera lol. Anyway yeah... the golds are nice... the lighter colors are okay... the mattes work nicely... and overall this is a great palette.
It doesn't last the absolute best... but it lasts pretty much all night. It starts wearing down a little bit after a few hours... not really sure how long, but I think it would last for a work day or a night out pretty nicely without wearing. I used the Elf Pearl primer... which is my favorite for drugstore shadows.
It does kind of get hardpan I guess... some of the shadows are a bit hard and it takes a while to get out. There is some glittery fallout... but not a ton.
Overall... this isn't the most amazing palette on earth... but that's kind of underselling it. Its a really nice palette for the price. I was super impressed. I used this palette around Christmas when I was kind of busy and I forgot what palette I used and I was looking at myself like "wow! This is a nice palette!" And it was this one! So that was cool. I like surprising myself in the day like "what the heck did I use!"
Overall I would recommend both of these for the price... as I've said, it does look like they might be discontinued soon... so it may even end up at Dollar Tree or something... and then it's super worth it... but yeah. These are nice!
