Frugal Friday: L'oreal Color Riche Pocket Palette
I got 2 of these L'oreal Color Riche Pocket Palettes a while ago... I have the colors Boudoir Charm and Haute Hazel... and they kind of aren't the best... but they serve a purpose.
So there are 4 colors in these palettes. The Boudoir Charm is a rose gold palette and Haute Hazel is kind of a fall-ish palette. It has an orange, a greenish color, a matte navy and a turquoise. None of these are like "Bold and colorful" it isn't like "wow! That's turquoise." It's just sort of a neutral pop of color if that makes sense. You can get a good smokey look with it... but its not going to be incredibly colorful or loud. The Boudoir Charm doesn't have any matte colors in it... but they are all kind of satin-y and they layer together nicely enough that you can get a full look from just this palette. You can take a matte brown color from another palette or a matte brown bronzer in the crease... but I think this could work well without it.
These shadows aren't chalky at all... they actually have a nice amount of pigment too them. They're all soft. They aren't the boldest or most pigmented colors in the world... but that's kind of a lot to expect from the drugstore. These are just nicely pigmented, soft blendable colors. The lack of pigmentation actually makes it a little easier to create looks with this. There is no fallout, and its something you can just put on your eyelids in a few minutes and not really worry about it looking bad or unblended. They are just very easy for a quick look.
That being said... $10 is kind of a lot for these palettes! I thought they were like 7.99 or something like that... but 9.99 at ulta is kind of a lot. Obviously these go on sale a lot and you can coupon it up and get these for a really good price... but $10 is kind of a lot... especially considering the size of this... you really don't get all that much product with it. The pans are pretty shallow... so that's kind of something to consider.
As I said, I think these are awesome for a super easy look. That is kind of the purpose I think it serves. If you're just starting out at makeup I think these are good to start off with. If you always have to do your makeup in a hurry, I think these would work. If you just want to keep some makeup in your car just in case... I think this would be good. These are definitely for "Ohhh... I need to do makeup fast" looks. I've heard the blue palette is really bad... so I wouldn't get that... but they do have a lot of great options... and if you get some sort of discount on it, I think its worth it.
I don't know if I would purchase any more. I kind of want the French Biscuit set... so maybe I'll get that... Not totally sure if I'd say its worth the $10... also it did hurt my eyes a little when I used the Boudoir Charm palette.... so I'm not 100% sure it'd be the best. I think I used it since then with no issues... but its not one I think I'd want on for a really long time. Also it probably isn't the longest wearing. I think I've worn them before for a long time with little issue with it... but it could wear easier than other shadows... so keep that in mind.
I think that is everything. Good for quick, easy looks... I like them... but they aren't amazing, they don't compare to high end... and they're kind of passable. I like them... but I'm not in awe of it.
