Review: Color Club Holiday Collections

So I mentioned yesterday that I won a facebook contest from Beauty Plus Salon, which is a smaller local beauty chain. They have high end haircare and skincare as well as drugstore brands of make up and haircare and lots of nail polish. The nail polish is usually cheaper than Sallys or other nail places. They also have a really good rewards program thats free and sends good coupons, and if you're an employee at a mall that has a Beauty Plus Salon, you can get 10% off the store in that mall. So thats a lot of awesome already. If you live in the NJ area, check this place out. I think they have locations in New York... possibly Pennsylvania and Connecticut also, not 100 percent sure... but its a good store! Check it out, like them on facebook follow them on twitter and Insta. Not sure how often they do these giveaways, but they had a different prize each week and they let you enter every day for a month... so that was cool.

Anyhoo the good part: The Nail polishes. I've heard people say amazing things about Color Club. I think I've only tried a mini polish and I liked it but I wasn't thrilled with it... but the formula of what I've tried so far is so sooo good. If you know Sally Hansen's Pacific Blue and how amazing that formula was... these are on par with that! The colors I used were a shimmer called Magical Attraction and a solid color called Lady Holiday.

I started out with the glitter polish, and I wasn't sure how it would apply. I wanted it on its own without a base and I didn't know how opaque it would be. It wasn't completely opaque, but after two layers it gave a complete opaque look without any trouble at all! Well I did have a bit of trouble, but it was kind of my own fault. I touched the nail to see if it was dry, which it wasn't and like the whole color came off when I did that. That was more of a problem with the non-glittery color I used... which I'll get to, but the glitter kind of did that too. It did apply quite fast for a glitter polish.

I really like that this glitter shade is very buildable because sometimes I like wearing glitter over another color and other times I just want it on its own. This gave me a little less trouble than glitter colors from brands like Sinful Colors, so that was good. I don't like that it gives it a sort of textured feel. Like it feels gritty on my nails. Usually I only do my accent nails in glitter colors because this is kind of an issue. Also I don't think it will work for my dot manicure, which was kind of upsetting. I was going to use the white glitter called Snowflake to make actual snowflakes and it didn't really work. I don't know if the color I had as a base was too light, but that didn't seem to work that well. Maybe if I put a white polish on under it it would work... idk, I might try that. The Snowflake color may need more of a base coat than the other colors.

And the plain color I used was the grey called Lady Holiday. I wanted to start with the lightest polish of the bunch because I usually have such a hard time with light colors, so I figured that if this one was good, I could tell a lot about all of their polishes. I was sooo surprised at how easy this applied. Its not like a one coat polish, but after two coats it looks perfect and it applies so nicely.

And I think Color Club is a little harder to find. I don't think they have these at Ulta, Wallgreens, Target or any other drugstores... but I think they sell them at Bed Bath and Beyond, Christmas Tree Shoppe and Harmon. I'm quite sure I've seen these at Harmon and I know I heard Young Wild and Polished on youtube say she gets hers at Christmas Tree Shoppes... which makes sense because its a subsidiary of BB&B so yeah.

So yes get your hands on these if you like the colors. They get a big thumbs up for me. I'm not sponsored by anyone or anything I've mentioned in this post, I just happened to get these for free from my favorite nail polish store that I don't think many people know of, so I figured I'd mention that too. Lol.
