Everything I know about Elf Cosmetics

So I thought this would be kind of a fun follow up to my "Full Face of Elf Cosmetics" Youtube video... which I'll link here. I'm going to do what I did with Too Faced's "Everything I know About" post and talk about everything in the line. Lol.

So I used the Flawless Finish Foundation, 3 shades from the Contour Palette... One shade from the blush palette... the top left shade on the Illuminating Palette, The Best Friend Eye Duos in Peach Squad and Bestie Brown and the Matte Lipstick in Dash of Pink. Ohhh and I used the eye Primer. You can get all these products for $35 on their website right now too! No coupon code or sale... so that is not bad at all! I also used the Silicone Sponge.

How These Worked Together...
The thing I think is best about these products are how amazing they all look together... it just worked so well. I love how the Face Palettes can be rearranged and customized... and I like that the pinks all kind of match. I put the Pink blush, lipstick and eyeshadow near each other in this picture for a reason! I wasn't necessarily trying to match everything up in this look... but it worked so well!

And it isn't just these particular products that the sort of "monocromatic" look works with. If you have a dress you're trying to match your makeup too... this is a good brand to try and check out for that! Maybe for Prom or wedding season!

I bolded that because I thought it was important and a good point hahaha.

What I didn't Use...

So I didn't get a complete full face of makeup here... so I'll talk about that! I didn't use Elf for my Face Primer, Setting Spray, Concealer (I didn't use concealer though), or Eye Palettes, Eyeliner and Mascara.

Elf does have good eye palettes. I decluttered the Mad for Matte palette that I had and loved recently because I broke the mirror and I couldn't tell if any had gotten into my eyes... so they do have good palettes... but honestly I loved these duos and I think I almost prefer that.

I've never tried their concealer... but I've heard it's good. So... yeah.

I have used the Moisturizing Primer before...but it smells kind of funny. I didn't love it- never repurchased it.

And the setting spray I forgot how long I had it... so I just decluttered it recently because I wasn't going to use it and there wasn't much left. I don't think it made a difference whatsoever... and there are definitely better drugstore setting sprays now.

I've heard their eyeliners can be kind of dry and they fall out when you open them up... so that's not great.

And Mascara... I feel like they aren't going to improve the mascara at all. I feel like they try to have everything in the $3 price range... and $3 mascaras just don't seem good to me... I've never tried it... but I don't think anyone has an Elf mascara as their holy grail... and I don't know if Elf wants to make an amazing mascara. Essence Lash Princess is great at 4.99... I can't really imagine Elf making a mascara and having it at $5 or $6... I just don't think people will buy it... so they should improve for their eyeliners and mascaras... but I don't really think they will and I think you can still get great products from other affordable brands.

Trendiness...

Elf releases some pretty trendy products before a lot of other drugstore brands do. I think they were first on the contouring train from the drugstore... they had Eye Primers earlier on than other brands... and I think they do a lot of good trendy skincare products also. They always seem to be releasing new items and they're getting better and they are getting trendier. I think because they are now a publicly traded company- they've gotten a lot better that way they can get more investors and they can make the investors money.

They do have "holographic" highlight duos out now... the one I have isn't really something I'd call holographic... so I think they need to do a little with that if they want to compete with brands like Wet n Wild who do have great holographic highlights... but they're still trying something trendy and it's still good!

Skincare...

I'm really impressed by their skincare line and they keep extending the line too... which is really awesome. They have some great products that are unlike other drugstore makeup brands... and I feel like they expand a lot... and it's been in my Target's a little more lately- which i like a lot.

Lipsticks...

They have a lot of lipsticks... and I've tried several different lines from them. I used their Matte Lipstick for my look here... but they have matte liquid lipsticks, they have great glosses and they have some great moisturizing lipsticks too... I think they even have tinted lip balms and satin lipsticks... they have a lot and I think that's kind of nice. You can find whatever you're looking for in the line.

The Besties Eye Duos...
So since I just tried these for the first time... I thought I'd give an update... they've stayed on really well with my old Elf Eye Primer and I'm just really impressed with them. I had a little bit of trouble with the gold shade in Peach Squad... but it still turned out so well and I really love it!

Overall Thoughts
If you needed to get a full face of elf makeup... you could get some really great products! One of my favorite drugstore brands for sure and I think they've really stepped up their game recently!

Byee!
